Our next door neighbors offered us some timber from a tree they're having removed. I assumed we'd be getting a few large branches. Imagine my surprise when I looked out back to see this fabulous pile of wood in the yard...
And I can think of no better way to use it than lighting up the fire pit and roasting some marshmallows on a cool October night...

Ah . . this is one of our family's favorite things! We have a small firepit ring in our backyard and whenever the twigs & branches get to be a bit overhwelming in the yard, it's time for marshmallows!!
Yep, now I'm craving marshmallows! I can even see the dark chewy spot on the right side of your son's marshmallow. It's so satisfying to see a big heap of wood. Your wood has so many rings of color in the center.
Those crunchy ends are the best part, aren't they?
You're right, Anna, the core of that trunk is even more beautiful up close. The core is still moist and colorful but the outer layers are so dry that they practically crumble when touched.
thanks so much for your comment today- I love your header and layout- I am heading straight to blog busters!
Thanks CGQ, it does drive me nuts somtimes though :)
